According to the U.S. Defense POW/MIA Accounting Agency there are still 82,468 military members listed as missing in action from as far back as WWII through current day. Think about that a minute. That’s a lot of families that don’t know what happened to a loved one and are still wondering if they are alive or dead. It’s the not knowing that can eat at your soul. Have you ever heard someone say they aren’t creative? I have, which led me to explain creative can be about anything from painting, crafts, cooking, thinking or even the way you move. I believe everyone is creative, they just might not know it. Continue reading “Give It a Go”
I wanted to title this post for the Day of Encouragement, Share a Hug, but then realized there are so many places these days it is improper to give a hug. I find that very sad. If someone I know is feeling a little down I offer a hug. But, if someone is getting close to reaching a hard goal, or wanting to try harder at school, then a high-five is an appropriate gesture. Personally, I have never quite connected with the high-five. It seems so sterile and empty to me. I know, it’s probably only me that thinks that. Continue reading “Share a High Five”
If you were old enough to understand what was happening on September 11, 2001, you will never forget the day the World Trade Towers in New York City were destroyed by terrorists. A few years later the title of National Day of Service and Remembrance was added so the first responders and good Samaritans that helped in the rescue would also be recognized. Continue reading “Never Forget”
I’ve never been a big fan of beer and the “hoppier” it is, the less I like it. Currently in western New York state craft breweries are appearing everywhere. They make beer with fruit, nuts, spices, coffee and chocolate. I haven’t developed a taste for those types of beer either. If I’m going to drink it, I want it to taste like a good old fashioned Bud. Quite honestly I couldn’t tell you the difference between an ale, a lager or an IPA. Continue reading ““Hoppy” or Not”
Why do you read? At my age I read to be entertained, to learn a new quilting technique, and also on how to write better. There is nothing more relaxing to me than sitting in my chair, with the cat on my lap, enjoying a good book, especially if it is raining. We could get really argumentative about what makes a good book, but let’s suffice it to say, everyone likes something different and there are lots to choose from. Continue reading “Reading is Fun”
