National Day of …….

Red or White?

How do you prefer your pizza? Red, garlic white, or green pesto for sauce? And what toppings do you like; the old stand-by, pepperoni, or more “fruffy” things like roasted red peppers and artichoke hearts? I recently had a pizza that used Alfredo with extra cheese for the sauce. It was quite tasty and nice and moist. I’d order it again. Continue reading “Red or White?”

Helping Out

I hope you never find yourself in need of a food-bank, but if you do, I hope it is a well-stocked one. Food banks only have supplies if someone donates them. National Food Bank Day brings awareness to that need.  Continue reading “Helping Out”

How Did You Meet?

My husband and I recently went to a dinner hosted by his company. During dessert time, the company owner went around the table and asked each couple how they met. He came right out and told us, if his employees know each other better they become more invested and caring so working together improves. The owner is a very smart man who my husband admires and respects highly. The company is a pleasure to work for. Continue reading “How Did You Meet?”

Everyone Grieves Differently

Few people like to talk about grief so having an awareness day for it is a good thing. I have had more than my share of personal losses for my age and now as a retiree, the number grows by the year. It’s hard to deal with and accept one of life’s natural progressions at times. The void left when someone close to you dies is all too real. Continue reading “Everyone Grieves Differently”

with enough experience to have a few smarts

When I am in public

I still notice the guy in the crowd

as if I were still young

dark hair, dark eyes, like my first childhood playmate

When I think of working

Now I have decided what I would like to do

I am young enough to do it

With energy, interest and no pain

When I hear a concert mentioned

I still want to go

Alas, the ears hate loud noise

And the thumping bass makes me nauseous

So here I sit at my computer

In a fine back support chair

Wondering if others imagine themselves

In an age they are not Continue reading “When Dreaming”

Just Do It

Today is Just Because Day. Why they chose a picture of a pretty blue bird for today is a mystery to me. I think I would have chosen a picture of people dancing in the rain, having a good time. Anyway, the point behind today is take the time to do something you have always thought about or wanted to, just because. The calendar points out it can be something in the line of helping others, a daring scary experience, or buying that item you have been longing for, or maybe even trying a food that makes you squirm. Continue reading “Just Do It”
