Formed from amateur troops of volunteer soldiers defending colonies against British tyranny, the oldest military force in the United States began before the U.S. formerly existed. Their forces consisted of mostly inexperienced militiamen commanded by independent colonial armies. According to battlefields.org, there were never more than 48,000 Continental soldiers at one time. Today, the United States Army consists of over one million active duty service members and an additional 800,000 National Guard and Reserves members. The enduring history of the U.S. Army means they have been integral to many of the United State’s military, peace-keeping and humanitarian efforts.

It is also Flag Day National-Flag-Day-June-14

To celebrate the Army’s birthday please fly our flag if you have a way to do so. Our troops have used that flag as a sign of home and freedom any time they have fought for our country. In my opinion, it and our military deserve the utmost respect.

I have attempted to keep my political thoughts off this page, but this seems the opportune time to say to the sitters and kneelers of the NFL, I accept you have the right to protest, I just don’t think you should do it while you are at work. Form your own platform and do it on your own time.  The U.S. military has made it possible for you to voice your opinions freely and this is mine.

I am an ex-Air Force wife and spend a lot of time with a special group of Veterans, I know the price they have paid so citizens of the U.S. have the right of free speech and can live in a democratic country. I thank them, all members of the any military branch, and their families that keep the home front warm while they serve. They are underpaid and under-appreciated.
